アート散歩道＠成田国際空港The Art Promenade @ Narita Airport

日本は短い夏休みに突入！海外へ出かける人も多いのでは？
そして、長い夏休みを利用して海外から日本へ来る人も多い季節。
羽田空港からの国際線も増えたが、まだまだ成田国際空港を利用することが多い。

Narita International Airport Terminal 1 (NRT/RJAA) / Hyougushi

実はこの成田国際空港に何気なく飾られているオブジェや絵は有名作家の作品が多いの。
余裕を持って空港に到着し、時間を持て余すこともよくある。そんなときは
ゆっくりとアート観賞をしながら散歩をするのもいいだろう。

今回は第１ターミナルの個人的にお勧めの３人の作品5点＋αをご紹介。

B.S.EAST（青）
V.O.WEST（赤）
[中村 哲也]

中村哲也：視覚的に「最も速そうな形態」を追求し続けるアーティスト。マシンもなにも搭載していないそれはなぜか速そうに見える。
成田国際空港のこの作品は日本の伝統文様をベースにした模様を取り入れている。

[山口 晃]

山口 晃：大和絵や浮世絵のようなタッチで、現代と過去の日本の風景が入り交じった人物や建築物などを緻密に描き込む画風。
絵画のみならず、立体や漫画、インスタレーションなどさまざまな表現活動を行なっている。

ガラスタワー・清らかな自然の郷
[岩田 糸子]

岩田 糸子：2008年死去。独自の技法で斬新な花器や日常に使えるガラスの和食器など、生活を演出する作品を次々と発表。
中でもガラスの照明は、かつてないインテリアのひとつとして一世を風靡した。

この他にもあちこちに作品があるので、インフォメーションでこのパンフレット片手にぐるりと「アート散歩道」を巡ってみるのをお勧めする。

And Japan is off, rushing into their short summer break. Are many of them going overseas? After all, there are plenty of international tourists who make use of their long holidays to come to Japan this time of year

Although Haneda Airport is being increasingly used by international tourists, Narita airport remains popular.

Narita International Airport Terminal 1 (NRT/RJAA) / Hyougushi

Many of art pieces casually adorning Narita Airport are actually the work of famous artists.

You may find yourself arriving at Narita Airport with some flexibility in your schedule, or you may find yourself with so much time that you don’t know what to do. If so, it’s not a bad idea to enjoy the artwork while taking a leisurely walk. Today I will be introducing my personal favorite five or so pieces created by three artists, which can be found in Terminal 1

[Tetsuya Nakamura]

Tetsuya Nakamura: an artist constantly striving to imbue the “heights of speed” in his works. Although this piece does not contain any kind of machinery, there is a certain sense of speed that can be felt.

This art piece is based on traditional Japanese patterns.

[Akira Yamaguchi]

Akira Yamaguchi: incorporates elements of yamaoto-e (a term that refers to such stylistic conventions as simplified facial features, and the use of clouds to frame and hide space) and ukiyo-e (traditional Japanese woodblock printing) to produce finely detailed art of Japanese scenery both past and present, illustrating details such as the people and architecture.

Expressive art installations may be found in Narita Airport alongside works such as three-dimensional art pieces and manga.

North Wing 4F

Glass Tower. A pure town.
[Itoko Iwada]

Itoko Iwada: passed away 2008. Produced items for everyday use in her own, distinctive style. Amongst them are modern vases, and Japanese tableware fashioned from glass.

The innovative illumination of the glass installation from within made it incredibly popular.

Given there are are many other exhibits that may be found at Narita Airport. we recommend that you refer to the pamphlet when exploring the Art Promenade
