花筏 – Hanaikada
東京の桜はほぼ桜蘂（さくらしべ）-Sakurashibe in Tokyo
桜が咲くのは一瞬で、あっという間に散っていく。
日本人は桜がつぼみから満開の間だけでなく、その散っていく姿でさえ、自分の人生や出会いと別れに重ね合わせて感慨深く観賞する・・・・
A sakura flower only blooms for an instant, and in no time the petals scatter away.
Japanese people enjoy viewing the flowers not only from the moment the flower bud has fully opened, but throughout the period while they scatter away. It makes them relive their lives and encounters as they admire this image.
この日。たまたま見つけた「花筏」
–水面に散った花びらが吹き寄せられ流れていく様子のこと–
一見ゴミのように見えるこの花びらでさえ、日本人にはとても美しいものに変わる。
During one such day, I found a “Hanaikada”.
– This refers to the image of a sakura’s petals drifting after they have scattered off their flower.While at first glance this flower’s petals appear to be just rubbish, for Japanese people they change to being beautiful objects.

【満開の桜】
桜雲（おううん/O-un, lit. Sakura cloud）
桜の花が一面に咲きつづいて、遠方からは白雲のように見えること。
When you can see a sakura flower from afar as a cloud, just as it continues to bloom from its main surface.
花明かり（はなあかり/HanaAkari, lit. flower brightness）
群れ咲く桜の花のために、夜でも明かりを灯したように明るく見えること。
The cherry blossom looks white bright at night.
花霞（はながすみ/HanaGasumi, lit. flower haze）
遠くに群がって咲く桜の花が白く見えるさまを霧にたとえていう言葉。
A word that refers to being able to see the group of sakura from afar as if were mist as they bloom together.

零れ桜（こぼれざくら/KoboreSakura, lit. spilled Sakura）
散る桜。
Any Sakura whose petals fall.
桜吹雪（さくらふぶき/SakuraFubuki, lit. Blowing Sakura Snow）
桜の花びらが乱れ散るさまを雪にたとえて言う語。
A word that compares Sakura petals’ disheveled scattering to snow.
桜蘂（さくしべ/SakuraShibe, lit. Sakura Stamen）
桜の花が散った後、枝に残っている雄蘂と雌蘂。薄桃色の花より、桜蕊は濃い紅色をしている。
The male and female stamens left on the branch after a Sakura flower has bloomed and its petals have fallen. Compared to the pale peach colours of the flower, the SakuraShibe are a deep red colour.
花筵（はなむしろ/HanaMushiro, lit. Sakura Mat）
